Fluorite forms in cube shaped crystals and sometimes complex isometric forms. It is widely found in large deposits but notable areas include Germany, Austria, Switzerland, England and America. Illinois made Fluorite their official state mineral in 1965 when it was the largest producer of Fluorite in the US. It’s name comes from its ability to fluoresce under ultra-violet light.
